The free articles in this set include:
- Thunder in the huddle: Imagine you're Montana's center, stepping over the football for the initial snap of the 2011 opener against Tennessee. Glancing at the Vols' nose guard, you realize he looks vaguely familiar ...
- Gettin' his kicks: Practice makes perfect. Unless you practice too much. Then practice makes injured.
- Incentive plan: For an injured football player, seeing others capably filling your position can be a powerful incentive to make a rapid recovery.
- Finesse at fullback?: Some things just make you stop, shake your head to clear it and go "Huh?" A 255-pounder talking about being a "finesse" runner, for instance.
- The best teacher: Last August Tennessee didn't have a quarterback on its roster who had taken a snap in a Southeastern Conference game. This August the Vols boast two quarterbacks who have started SEC games.
- Having a blast: Most folks consider crunch time to be the last five minutes of a football game but Tennessee's safeties figure it's crunch time whenever they're on the field.
- Bombastic 'backers: Seeing is believing but hearing an assortment of glowing reports can be pretty convincing, as well.
- Shadow man: Stuck in the shadow of teammates Justin Hunter and Da'Rick Rogers is a Tennessee wide receiver who casts a pretty long shadow himself.
- 'It caught everybody off guard': The fact Tennessee has moved two cornerbacks to bolster its shaky depth at wide receiver was no surprise. The fact neither of them is named Marsalis Teague was.
- * D-line needs depth: Tennessee's defense was like a soft drink last fall. It was pretty sweet while it was fresh, but then it went flat.
- Fighting on two fronts: Signed as a Junior College All-American, he was supposed to take Tennessee fans' breath away. First, though, he must manage a health condition that tends to take his breath away.
