The free articles in this set include:
  • Lawson, husband running for coach: Kara Lawson will undergo somewhat of a role reversal next month when she is on the sidelines – albeit a constantly changing one – while her husband runs the New York City Marathon as part of the couple’s push to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association.
The articles requiring a Premium subscription in this set include:
  • Lady Vols hold morning session: When Pat Summitt walked onto the court Monday morning – the same one that bears her name – she jokingly asked who scheduled practice before the sun even came up in East Tennessee.
  • Defense buzzword for Lady Vols: The Lady Vols have made it clear they intend to get to the Final Four this season and compete for a championship. Of course, that is the stated goal every preseason. What may be different this time is they truly realize it’s their defense that would secure a spot in Denver.
  • Taber Spani returns to practice: Before practice started Wednesday, Taber Spani was lofting shots, which is not at all unusual. What was different this time is that she was doing so left-handed – the first time this month since she had elbow surgery to remove scar tissue.
  • Ariel Massengale easing her way back: Ariel Massengale made it to the practice court Thursday for a few drills — all non-contact and limited to dribbling and some shooting — after missing the past nine days because of a concussion.
  • Lady Vols earn weekend off : The Lady Vols wrapped up their fifth consecutive practice Friday and ninth in 10 days with an up-tempo session from start to finish. It ended with lots of smiles because the players have this entire weekend to themselves.
